Grave Markers

The MANB Cemetery Committee has made an effort to standardize the type and size of the gravestones (grave markers).

We have contracted with  Nelson Monuments, Sussex.

The material to be used is grey colored granite that is locally sourced, readily available, and cheaper than imported stone.

The standard requirements of the data for the grave stone will be the deceased person’s:
Full Name, Date of Birth, Place of Birth, Date of Death, Place of Death.

Dimensions of the Gravestone:

Graves at the Cemetery

The cemetery is divided into 4 blocks, two of which are nearly full. There are 2 grave sizes in each block. The size for infants/babies has not been standardized in Blocks A and B, but will be standardized and marked out when Block C is started.

There are also 25 adult graves per block. Each grave is 1 meter x 2 meters in size.

Capacity of Graveyard

Given the size of an adult grave, an acre will hold 880 graves. If we minus 80 graves for pathways, an acre will allow us 800 adult graves. We currently have 2.5 acres of land.

2.5 acres x 800 = 2,000 graves.

On average for the past 20 years, we have had about 40 adult deaths, i.e. 2 deaths per year. If that trend continues, this cemetery will last us a 1,000 years.
